Disposal Guide

Gloucester Refuse 95-gallon provided cans are for household trash only.

According to Gloucester County garbage and refuse rules and regulations and Waste Management policies. The following is a list of items not to be placed in the cans and dumpsters for disposal.

A. Paint – Paint is prohibited in cans, dumpsters, or trucks. Disposal of paint can lead to spills into the truck and roadways. All clean-up fees will be charged to the customer, including cans, trucks, and roads.

B. Oil – Oil is prohibited in trash cans, dumpsters, or trucks. Examples: motor oil, transmission oil, containers of cooking oils, etc. Disposal of oil can lead to spills into the truck and roadways. All clean-up fees will be charged to the customer, including cans, trucks, and roads.

C. Tires – Tires are to be disposed of at the waste management convenience centers.

D. Combustible Objects – combustible objects can cause injury to our employees, trucks, and objects around the truck. Examples: propane tanks, helium tanks, spray paint cans, etc. Any damages will be charged to the customer.

E. Batteries – Vehicle batteries, including lawnmowers, boats, and ATVs, are not permitted for disposal in trash cans or trucks. Batteries can cause injury to our employees, trucks, and objects around the truck. All batteries are to be disposed of at the waste management convenience centers.

F. Yard Debris – Yard debris should not be put in the trash cans due to weight limits for trash cans, trucks, and landfill disposal restrictions. This includes concrete, ash, leaves, and full tree trimming. We offer three and four-yard dumpsters for a one-time dump or large jobs. You can call the office for more information on dumpster prices.

G. Metal Objects – Metal objects are not permitted in trash cans, for example, car parts, water pipes, etc. These objects can cause damage to trucks. Any damages will be charged to the customer.

H. Pesticides – All pesticide containers and other poisonous containers shall be empty before being placed for collection.

I. Glass – All broken glass or any glass unless wrapped separately to prevent injury to our drivers. 

J. Cat Litter – cat litter must be bagged. If not, cat litter accumulates in the bottom of the can, causing extra weight; that breaks the can. Any damage to the cans will be charged to the customer.
